Job summary

The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) seeks an experienced Fiscal & Purchasing Analyst for its Strategic Initiatives Bureau to oversee financial operations, controls, reporting, and compliance. The analyst will ensure accurate accounting for Commercial Waste Zone and Containerization contracts and that vendor work meets high standards.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or
• An associate degree plus 12 months of professional procurement experience or
• A four-year high school diploma plus 2 years of procurement experience or
• A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to the above, with 4-year diploma/equivalents preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain internal accounting controls.
• Monitor OTPS and capital expenditures.
• Prepare budget proposals and funding requests (PEG).
• Perform technical budget activities including daily budget modifications and reports.
• Process procurement in Passport/COEN platforms and ensure fund availability.
• Review purchase orders and certify funds.
• Prepare Comptroller responses as needed.
• Create complex Excel budgets and analyses.
