Salt Lake County is seeking a Budget and Policy Analyst to support the Council in budgeting, accounting, and financial operations. The role requires delivering timely, accurate financial information and nonpartisan analysis.

You will analyze the county-wide budget, prepare budget proposals, explain policy options and their financial implications, and present findings to Council staff. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics with 5+ years of experience is required; a Master’s is

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field with at least five years of experience, or equivalent.
• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline preferred; strong quantitative and software skills.
• Interest in public policy and ability to explain financial implications clearly.

Responsabilités

• Analyze the county-wide budget with elected officials and departments to address budget issues.
• Explain policy options and their financial implications to Council staff.
• Prepare final budget proposals and justify budget needs; present to the Council.
• Prepare financial reports and revenue/expenditure projections; analyze variances.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to improve the Performance-Based Budgeting process.
