The Florida House of Representatives is seeking an advisor and technical expert to plan and manage budget operating activities for a subcommittee. You will work under the direction of the subcommittee chair, budget committee chair, and the Speaker, handling complex analytical tasks, setting priorities, and coordinating subcommittee reports, legislation, and correspondence.

Experience with state administration, general government appropriations, or policy is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and seven years of professional administrative, research, budget, policy analysis, or program planning and evaluation experience.
• A master’s degree can substitute for one year of the required experience.
• A doctorate can substitute for two years of the required experience.
• Professional experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Responsabilités

• Assists in the overall direction and administration of the budget subcommittee.
• Supervises the activities of the committee staff in preparing legislation to solve problems identified by the subcommittee chair and members.
• Plans and coordinates subcommittee interim research projects and major subcommittee documents.
• Assists in development and presentation of budget briefings and program alternatives to leadership.
• Coordinates development of the Appropriations Bill with proviso language and related bills.
• Coordinates planning of subcommittee meetings and presents findings as needed.
• Assists in prioritizing state agency funding needs and recommends actions on legislation.
• Monitors the budget's implementation to ensure programs align with legislative intent.
• Prepares or reviews written and oral communications in response to inquiries from Legislators and the public.
