Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a director of budget to oversee the day-to-day development and administration of the district’s operating budget. The role conducts pre-audit analyses, ensures budgetary controls, and provides complex analyses of actual and forecasted expenditures.

The position reports to the Executive Director of Budget Development and Management Services and is based at CMS premises with market pay grade 10, full-time, 12 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related area required
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in accounting or related area preferred
• Equivalent combination of experience and education

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff/programs
• Collaborate and prepare the district’s annual budget; assist in the development of the district’s budget strategy
• Monitor economic conditions and legislative activity affecting the district’s fiscal landscape
• Review budget allocations and expenditures for compliance and grant compliance
• Develop budget operations policies, procedures, and budgetary controls
