Job summary

The National Park Service seeks a Budget Analyst to serve as a consultant and advisor in all phases of budget and financial management matters.

The incumbent provides leadership to managers of budget programs in budget formulation and execution, formulates and executes financial plans, and ensures sound control of obligations and appropriations. This telework eligible position offers a pay range of $85,447 to $113,142 per year.

Qualifications

• You must submit a copy of your transcript(s) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include your name, school name, grades, credit hours earned, major(s), grade point average or class ranking, and date the degree was conferred.
• Unofficial transcripts are acceptable, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
• Foreign Education: To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs.

Responsibilities

• Formulates and establishes effective and sound control procedures to ensure control of obligations so that deficits are not incurred and obligations do not exceed the approved apportionment.
• Periodically reviews report of unobligated balances and prepares status and justification reports.
• Determines need for reapportionments based on reviews and initiates requests.
• Formulates and executes broad financial plans and policies affecting the authorization and use of funds.
• Provides technical direction and leadership to improve efficiency and effectiveness of financial management operations at all levels.
