Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking a Budget Analyst to assist in developing, preparing and administering the departmental budget with financial analysis and oversight to ensure effective management of funds.

The role involves forecasting, reporting, and collaborating with city departments, auditors, and service providers to maintain accuracy, transparency, and compliance with city policies. Strong communication and Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an accounting, public administration, finance or business field.
• Three (3) years of experience in financial analysis, budget planning/monitoring or professional accounting.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing the annual operating budget including capital, grants, and trusts.
• Performs special projects and forecast models to inform management.
• Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on costs, performance, and revenues.
• Reviews council agenda items for budget data; coordinates with staff on budget submissions.
• Communicates with departments, managers, auditors to reconcile submissions with budgets.
• Oversees financial system transactions; supervises deposits, receivables, payables and revenues.
• Coordinates annual budget development with staff, ensuring accuracy and guidelines.
• Performs other duties as needed.
