Job summary

Wave Life Sciences is seeking a Buyer II to manage complex procurement activities at our Lexington, MA site. You will issue POs, track requisitions, and ensure on-time delivery while negotiating with suppliers to optimize pricing and service.

This role emphasizes cGMP knowledge, ERP usage, and collaboration with planning and logistics teams. The position requires at least 2 years of procurement experience in a complex supply chain and a Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of procurement experience in complicated supply chain structures.
• Experience with Quality and ERP systems.
• Experience using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project).
• Previous experience in the pharmaceutical or medical products industry.

Responsibilities

• Create purchase orders and execute requisitions based on MRP signals and business requirements.
• Maintain accurate purchase order and release schedules to support uninterrupted supply.
• Ensure timely and cost-effective procurement and delivery of materials.
• Oversee and manage min-max inventory requirements for cGMP raw materials.
• Analyze material usage and inventory data to assess potential impacts on supply and production.
• Manage purchasing and usage unit of measure conversions (Buy vs. Use).
• Review monthly scrap reports and adjust raw material requirements accordingly.
• Collaborate with Planning to provide forecasts and communicate material requirements to suppliers.
• Maintain understanding of production schedules and material demand.
• Develop and manage strategic relationships with suppliers to support business objectives.
• Review PO reports and address changes impacting production schedules.
• Review supplier open-order reports and lead weekly/bi-weekly supplier meetings.
• Provide supply risk assessments to internal stakeholders during disruptions.
• Partner with Logistics and suppliers to resolve PO and shipment issues.
• Support annual standard cost review process.
• Manage raw material failure investigations and SCAR processes.
• Support supplier/material onboarding activities for new vendors.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and service levels with suppliers.
• Establish purchasing units of measure and pricing for new parts.
• Monitor freight and expedite costs with preferred carriers.
• Support SRM initiatives, including KPI development and performance monitoring.
• Initiate and manage quality system activities for cGMP requirements.
• Represent Procurement in Supplier Change Notification meetings.
