Job summary

Precigen is seeking a Procurement Manager at our Germantown, MD location. The role leads end-to-end procurement across commercial and R&D, focusing on supplier selection, contract compliance, and strategic sourcing to support gene therapy programs.

You will negotiate terms, manage ERP purchasing, ensure compliance with SOX, and drive supplier diversity and risk management, partnering with manufacturing, logistics, and finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field (master’s preferred) or 4–6 years of related experience.
• 5+ years of pharma/biotech procurement experience.
• 5+ years of procurement, inventory management, and planning (manufacturing environment).
• Strong negotiation, analytical, project management skills; global sourcing knowledge.
• FDA, EU GMP, ICH Q7 knowledge and supplier qualification requirements.
• ERP proficiency with NetSuite and SAP.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end procurement for materials, services, equipment across commercial and R&D.
• Negotiate contracts to improve price, terms, lead time, quality, and after-sales service.
• Develop strategic sourcing for API raw materials, intermediates, excipients, solvents, packaging, and services.
• Ensure uninterrupted supply of compliant materials while optimizing cost, quality, risk, and supplier performance.
• Identify and mitigate supply risks related to single-source dependencies and regulatory changes.
• Develop contingency and business continuity plans for critical materials.
• Manage purchase requests and procurement activities, ensuring SOX compliance in the ERP system.
• Evaluate requisitions for completeness, appropriateness, and risk; select procurement approach.
• Oversee receiving processes and three-way match controls for accurate invoice processing.
