Job summary

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is seeking a Director of Analytics and Insights to lead our BI function and drive data-driven decision making across departments. In this role you will translate business goals into measurable KPIs, define data definitions, and deliver dashboards and analyses that inform strategic initiatives while growing the analytics team as the function evolves.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive BI, analytics, or related experience.
• Experience leading stakeholder engagements and translating business language.
• Experience defining and stewarding KPIs across functions.
• Hands-on with modern BI and dashboarding platforms.
• Proficient in SQL for exploratory analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary BI liaison between the function and business departments.
• Run intake conversations to translate objectives into BI work.
• Facilitate KPI definitions with owners and establish clear definitions.
• Translate business requests into technical specifications for the BI team.
• Maintain and enhance dashboards, reports, and segmentation logic.
• Provide proactive analysis on patron behavior, ticket sales, and fundraising.
• Mentor staff and contribute to the growth of the BI function.
• Ensure governance, privacy, and security standards are met.
