Job summary

City of Azle, TX seeks an Assistant Finance Director to lead accounting operations, payroll, and reporting under the Director of Finance. You will coordinate audits, strengthen internal controls, and support strategic financial planning for municipal programs.

The role requires a CPA/CGFO/CPFO or advanced degree, 5+ years in government finance with 2+ years in supervision, and strong Excel/Office skills. This on-site position offers a competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration or related field.
• Minimum five years of progressive accounting/government finance experience with at least two in supervision.
• CPA/CGFO/CPFO designation or master’s degree preferred; municipal software experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee city accounting operations including AP/AR, payroll, and GL.
• Coordinate annual financial audits and GAAP/GASB reporting.
• Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies.
• Manage annual operating and capital budgets and forecasting.
• Lead staff, provide direction, and support interdepartmental financial guidance.
