Job summary

Conejo Services is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller – Accounting & Systems to own general accounting, balance‑sheet integrity, and month‑end close. You will work with the CFO and accounting team to strengthen processes and ensure accurate financial reporting.

The role requires hands‑on journal entries, reconciliations, and system improvements across ServiceTitan, QuickBooks Enterprise, Ramp, and Excel. A Bachelor’s degree and 5–8 years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience
• Hands-on experience preparing journal entries, accruals, balance‑sheet reconciliations, and financial schedules
• Strong working knowledge of accrual accounting and U.S. GAAP
• Strong QuickBooks Enterprise experience
• Hands-on ServiceTitan accounting experience strongly preferred
• Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations, and financial analysis
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly and year‑end close process, maintaining close checklists and deadlines
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepaids, reclasses, payroll‑related entries, fixed assets, depreciation, and month‑end adjustments
• Prepare and review balance‑sheet reconciliations and resolve unusual balances
• Review the general ledger for miscoding, duplicate transactions, missing entries, and discrepancies
• Support monthly financial reporting, budget‑to‑actual analysis, departmental and trade reporting, and audits
• Provide accounting oversight of AP and AR while the team handles day‑to‑day work
• Serve as a technical accounting resource and improve procedures and internal controls
• Support accounting needs for new trades, locations, systems, acquisitions and growth
