Job summary

Fairstead ESC LLC is seeking a Director, Development Operations to manage a portfolio of affordable multifamily assets and optimize returns. You will conduct financial modeling, develop asset plans, and collaborate with internal teams to drive value across the portfolio.

The role emphasizes risk management, reporting to senior leadership, and leading cross-functional initiatives. Preference for NYC-based candidates with relocation support; bonus eligibility and hybrid options may apply.

Qualifications

• 8+ years’ applicable real estate experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
• Experience with multifamily affordable portfolio management.
• Knowledge of Project-Based Section 8 and LIHTC programs.
• Experience with partnership agreements, loan documents, and regulatory agreements.
• Strong proficiency in financial modeling and MS Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with budgeting, accounting, and financial analysis.
• Proficiency in property management software like RealPage or Yardi.

Responsibilities

• Direct, hands-on management of a portfolio of affordable multifamily assets.
• Conduct financial analysis including cash flow projections and budgeting.
• Develop and execute business plans for assets and portfolio.
• Analyze market trends to maximize property values and cash flow.
• Collaborate with affiliated management and third-party managers.
• Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management.
• Coordinate with acquisitions, development, construction, and property management teams.
• Identify value-add projects and oversee capital needs and contingencies.
• Support capital transactions, including refinancing and dispositions.
• Forecast cash flows and manage risk; travel up to 20%.
