Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an Account Director for Government to manage a portfolio of state and local government accounts and drive AI adoption across agencies. You’ll lead multi-year strategies, forge executive relationships, and collaborate with Solutions, Research, and Product teams to deliver complex programs.

You’ll travel regularly to engage government customers and partners; based in Washington, DC or San Francisco, with a hybrid work arrangement and relocation assistance for new hires.

Qualifications

• Experience selling enterprise technology to state and local government.
• Proven ability to lead executive-level engagements.
• Deep understanding of government procurement processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage a focused set of key accounts, developing and executing account plans.
• Lead state and local government customers through AI adoption journeys—from consideration to deployment.
• Partner with Solutions and Research Engineering to build and run complex programs.
• Own and manage a consumption revenue target.
• Forecast and report on consumption revenue.
• Analyze key account metrics and share insights with stakeholders.
• Build executive relationships with state CIOs and agency leaders.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Solutions, Marketing, Finance, Product, and Engineering.
• Support recruitment and onboarding for government-focused team members.
• Foster OpenAI culture within the state and local government practice.
