Alliance for Community Empowerment Inc. is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department in Bridgeport, CT.

The role supervises staff, maintains the general ledger, and manages payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and grant reporting. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, at least two years in accounting/finance and supervisory experience, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Thorough knowledge of all accounting function areas.
• Computer literate with proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing, and accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate accounting classifications of revenues, expenditures, transactions, and supporting documentation.
• Reconcile tax (941) reports to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
• Act as liaison with agency personnel regarding payroll and accounting policies.
• Research, analyze, and interpret accounting data to support accurate financial reporting and decision-making.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and properly supported.
• Conduct special investigations as assigned to complete projects within deadlines.
• Update the accounting manual as standards/policies change.
• Monitor grant budgets and expenditures to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
• Compile and interpret funding source regulations and maintain compliance with agency grants.
• Supervise, train, and provide guidance to accounting staff for timely completion of tasks.
• Participate in the annual financial audit and prepare schedules and reconciliations.
