Job summary

MCBank in Birmingham, AL seeks an Accounting Director to lead all accounting operations, ensure the accuracy of financial records, and manage the monthly and annual close, internal controls, and external audits. Reporting to the CFO/VP of Finance, the director will guide tax compliance and develop the accounting team.

The role partners with executive leadership to advise on the accounting impact of business decisions and to drive process improvements across the finance function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• Active CPA license (CPA).
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years leading staff.
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
• Experience closing month-end and managing external audits.
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct the monthly, quarterly and annual close.
• Prepare and review financial statements.
• Oversee general ledger, journal entries and reconciliations.
• Deliver monthly reporting packages and variance analysis to leadership.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, revenue recognition and inventory/cost accounting.
• Monitor cash position and banking relationships; manage intercompany accounting.
