Job summary

Meritus Gas Partners seeks an Accounting Controller to direct financial reporting, manage accounting operations, and support growth from Phoenix, AZ or Denver, CO. This high-visibility role partners with senior leadership and the board, driving capital allocation and post-merger integration.

You will lead a four-person accounting team, oversee audits, ensure GAAP compliance, and standardize processes across units, with clear advancement pathways within the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
• Active CPA credential.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience in controllership or related environments.
• Experience supervising accounting teams and managing financial closes.
• Expertise in U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
• Experience supporting corporate development, due diligence, and post-close M&A integrations.
• Ability to partner with senior executives.

Responsibilities

• Direct all business-unit accounting operations with GAAP-compliant reporting.
• Own monthly, quarterly, and fiscal year-end close cycles for speed and accuracy.
• Maintain standardized accounting policies, reconciliation standards, and internal controls.
• Deliver recurring reporting packages and performance analyses to leaders.
• Partner with operational leaders to reflect activity in financial statements.
• Lead regional merger, acquisition, and integration initiatives.
• Collaborate on diligence and targeting with IT, HR, operations.
• Execute post-acquisition integration roadmaps and COA standardization.
• Oversee purchase accounting adjustments and opening balances.
• Transition acquired entities onto core policies and reporting systems.
