Job summary

RGP is seeking an experienced Accounting Controller in Chicago to lead the accounting function and ensure accurate financial reporting. You will oversee month-end close, financial statements, internal controls, and regulatory compliance while partnering with leadership to drive operational excellence.

The role requires 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, a CPA preferred, and strong ERP/Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting best practices.
• Experience managing month-end close, audits, and compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to lead accounting teams and develop staff.
• Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of the accounting function, including general ledger, payables, receivables, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and financial reporting.
• Direct month-, quarter-, and year-end close processes for timely, accurate results.
• Prepare and review financial statements per U.S. GAAP and company policies.
• Develop, implement and maintain internal controls and procedures.
• Oversee reconciliations, journal entries, variance analyses, and balance sheet integrity.
• Partner with Finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and planning.
• Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance.
