The Position
The Strategic Account Manager for Weld Wire Sales is responsible for managing and growing sales for key strategic accounts, focusing on carbon, stainless steel, and cored welding wire products. This role combines strategic account management, relationship-building, and the development of new business opportunities. The SAM will work closely with key clients, including distributors and end-users, and collaborate with internal teams such as sales, engineering, and production to drive sales growth. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the weld wire industry, excellent communication skills, and a results-driven approach to achieve sales targets.
Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
• Sales & Account Management: Manage all sales activities for weld wire products (carbon, stainless steel, cored wire) for defined strategic accounts. Build and maintain strong relationships with both distributor and end-user customers.
Business Development: Identify new business opportunities and expand existing relationships. Convert leads into sales and develop strategies to grow market share in the defined region.
• Sales Strategy & Forecasting: Establish and achieve annual sales forecasts. Develop short and long-term sales strategies to achieve both sales volume and profit objectives for the region.
• Customer Requirements & Solutions: Understand and communicate customer goals and technical requirements. Provide expert consultation and product demonstrations to address customer needs and troubleshoot challenges. Develop and deliver tailored solutions based on customer specifications.
• Market Analysis & Competitor Monitoring: Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to adapt sales strategies. Provide regular updates and insights to management regarding market dynamics and sales performance.
• Sales Presentations & Proposals: Lead product presentations to potential clients, clearly conveying the technical specifications and benefits of weld wire products. Prepare and issue accurate product quotations and proposals.
• Negotiation & Closing: Lead negotiations, manage contracts, and navigate complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders. Close deals and ensure customer satisfaction with post-sales support.
• Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with internal departments (sales, engineering, production, field service) to ensure smooth execution of orders and customer specifications are met. Ensure that project teams are aware of customer requirements before order acceptance.
• Reporting & Documentation: Compile customer data, meeting reports, and trip summaries. Regularly report on sales activities, forecasting, and territory performance. Ensure accurate tracking of sales results, market trends, and customer feedback.
• Travel: Extensive travel (75%). Travel may include customer site visits, industry events, and sales presentations.

Requirements
Qualifications
• Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field preferred. A minimum of 3 years of sales experience in industrial sectors, with a focus on, weld wire products, or related fields.
• Sales Skills: Proven track record of success in sales, including the ability to develop strategic sales plans, identify business opportunities, and close high-value deals. Experience with long sales cycles and relationship-building is essential.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the welding industry, particularly with carbon, stainless steel, and cored welding wire products, is highly desirable. Understanding of customer needs, market competition, and product applications is a must.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex product information to diverse audiences. Ability to negotiate and build relationships at all levels, from maintenance personnel to senior executives.
• Technical Acumen: Strong technical knowledge to understand and explain product specifications, troubleshoot technical challenges, and advise customers on the best solutions for their needs.
• Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and CRM software (Salesforce preferred). Ability to prepare reports, presentations, and manage customer data effectively.
• Self-Driven: Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and drive results with minimal supervision. Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple accounts and projects simultaneously.
