Job summary

UCSF is seeking an Academic Personnel Analyst to serve as the main AP contact for multiple departments within the shared services model. You will administer AP policies across recruitment, appointments, compensation and leaves, and act as a strategic partner to faculty and departments to align human resources with academic objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in UC or other university AP services.
• Prior experience working with academic appointees.
• Requires advanced knowledge of and ability to apply/interpret system wide and campus policies such as APM and procedures which govern academic and postdoc personnel administration.
• Possesses advanced analytical, critical and innovative thinking skills to conduct analyses and develop recommendations, demonstrating sophisticated organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Acts as primary AP/HR contact for client departments and oversees all personnel actions for academic employees.
• Provides strategic support in appointment, visa processing, compensation, and other AP administration areas.
• Leads or collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve complex cases; may mentor junior colleagues.
• Interacts with campus stakeholders and participates in policy interpretation and implementation.
• Maintains service levels, tracks deadlines, and ensures confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
