Job Summary
The Waste Water Operator is in-charge of the daily operations of sewage treatment plant and sewer network ensuring efficiency and compliance to applicable laws and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
PLANTOPERATION EFFICIENCY
- Operate and monitor sewage treatment plant equipment, including pumps, valves, filters, and chemical treatment systems, to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to keep sewage treatment plant equipment and systems in good working condition.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities according to established schedules to prevent equipment failures and prolong the lifespan of plant assets.
- Escalate immediately to immediate head any issues or abnormalities and/or parts for immediate replacement and procurement as required for repairs and maintenance activities.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate levels of chemicals and other treatment agents used in the sewage treatment process.
SEWER NETWORK EFFICIENCY
- Conduct inspections of sewer lines, manholes, and other infrastructure components to assess their condition and identify any signs of damage, blockages, or leaks.
- Perform sewer line cleaning and clearing activities using specialized equipment such as jet vacuums and rodding machines to remove debris, roots, and other obstructions.
- Respond promptly to sewer system emergencies, such as overflows or backups, and take appropriate measures to contain spills, mitigate environmental impacts, and restore normal operation.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to plan and execute sewer system upgrades, expansions, or rehabilitation projects as needed.
WATER QUALITY COMPLIANCE and REPORTING
- Maintain accurate records of plant operations, maintenance activities, and regulatory compliance measures, including data on effluent quality, chemical usage, and equipment performance.
- Prepare and submit reports to immediate head regularly.
Technical Competencies and Skills
- Must be certified Industrial Electrician, with 2-3 years’ experience exposure to industrial maintenance.
- Experienced Welder/Mechanic
- Valid Driver’s License (4 Wheels)
- Pleasing personality and good communication skills.

Education, Trainings and Licenses Required
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in wastewater treatment, environmental science
