Job Summary

The Waste Water Operator is in-charge of the daily operations of sewage treatment plant and sewer network ensuring efficiency and compliance to applicable laws and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

PLANTOPERATION EFFICIENCY

  • Operate and monitor sewage treatment plant equipment, including pumps, valves, filters, and chemical treatment systems, to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to keep sewage treatment plant equipment and systems in good working condition.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance activities according to established schedules to prevent equipment failures and prolong the lifespan of plant assets.
  • Escalate immediately to immediate head any issues or abnormalities and/or parts for immediate replacement and procurement as required for repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate levels of chemicals and other treatment agents used in the sewage treatment process.

SEWER NETWORK EFFICIENCY

  • Conduct inspections of sewer lines, manholes, and other infrastructure components to assess their condition and identify any signs of damage, blockages, or leaks.
  • Perform sewer line cleaning and clearing activities using specialized equipment such as jet vacuums and rodding machines to remove debris, roots, and other obstructions.
  • Respond promptly to sewer system emergencies, such as overflows or backups, and take appropriate measures to contain spills, mitigate environmental impacts, and restore normal operation.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to plan and execute sewer system upgrades, expansions, or rehabilitation projects as needed.

WATER QUALITY COMPLIANCE and REPORTING

  • Maintain accurate records of plant operations, maintenance activities, and regulatory compliance measures, including data on effluent quality, chemical usage, and equipment performance.
  • Prepare and submit reports to immediate head regularly.

Technical Competencies and Skills

  • Must be certified Industrial Electrician, with 2-3 years’ experience exposure to industrial maintenance.
  • Experienced Welder/Mechanic
  • Valid Driver’s License (4 Wheels)
  • Pleasing personality and good communication skills.
  • Has good attention to details.
  • Able to work independently and achieve efficient results with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrates high integrity and accountability in all dealings.
  • Delivers excellent customer service with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Education, Trainings and Licenses Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in wastewater treatment, environmental science
