Job summary

The Social Media & Community Manager at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust oversees organic social media, storytelling, and audience engagement to strengthen the Trust’s reputation in Downtown Pittsburgh. You will coordinate planning, publishing, influencer relationships, and comment moderation with the Strategic Communications team.

You will produce photo and video content from performances and events, edit for social platforms, write platform-specific copy, manage analytics, and translate insights

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, multimedia, advertising, digital marketing, or related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of professional experience in social media management, communications, multimedia or related fields. Past photography, videography, and editing experience is required.
  • Strong photography, videography, and editing skills; channel-specific copywriting preferred.
  • Experience managing interns or freelancers is not required.
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and continuously improve the Trust’s social media and community engagement strategy to strengthen institutional visibility, reputation, audience participation and connection.
  • Manage the organization’s social media content calendar, balancing time-sensitive event promotion, institutional storytelling, community-focused content, sponsor commitments, and sales priorities.
  • Create, capture, and publish timely photo and video content from performances, festivals, media events, gallery exhibitions, sponsor activations, fundraising events, and everyday activity throughout the Cultural District.
  • Edit photography and video for social platforms, producing content ranging from informal, fast-turn coverage to polished institutional storytelling.
  • Write concise, compelling copy tailored to each platform, audience, and communications objective while maintaining a consistent Trust voice.
  • Monitor social channels and engage with audiences through comments, direct messages, and relevant community conversations.
  • Moderate comments and identify emerging issues, escalating reputational concerns, or sensitive guest interactions as appropriate.
  • Provide live and fast-turn social coverage of performances, festivals, community events, and other Trust activities, including occasional evening and weekend assignments.
  • Use business intelligence and platform analytics tools to track performance, identify audience trends and translate key performance indicators into recommendations for content and channel strategy.
  • Build and manage relationships with creators and influencers, including identifying potential partners, coordinating visits and content opportunities, and evaluating results.
  • Provide responsive, thoughtful guest service by addressing questions and feedback received through social media channels in coordination with the Trust’s guest services team.
  • Coordinate with colleagues, artists, resident companies, presenters, sponsors and other external partners on presales, event announcements, campaigns and shared content opportunities.
  • Prepare regular performance reports and share actionable insights with Communications, Marketing, and organizational leadership.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
