Job summary

City of Valdosta is seeking a skilled Stormwater Inspector to perform inspections of ponds and outfalls, monitor rainfall gauges, and maintain logs. The role supports stormwater crews and ensures safety and compliance in daily inspections.

The position requires knowledge of inspection practices, adherence to safety policies, and the ability to prepare clear reports. Experience in field inspections and a valid GA driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of pond and outfall inspection principles and practices.
• Knowledge of city and departmental safety policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of testing procedures for conductivity, detergents, pH, temperature and fluoride levels.
• Skill in operating an assigned vehicle.
• Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
• Skill in preparing required reports.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Completion of specialized training in the field and a high school education.
• 1–2 years of related experience.
• Possession of a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conducts analytical and visual inspections of stormwater outfalls.
• Checks rain gauges and records measurements.
• Maintains daily logs of activities, readings and inspection results.
• Inspects city ponds annually and after major rain events.
• Inspects stormwater pump and assists with inspections and maintenance.
• Performs related duties.
