Job summary

City of Valdosta is seeking a skilled Stormwater Inspector to perform inspections of ponds and outfalls, monitor rainfall gauges, and maintain logs. The role supports stormwater crews and ensures safety and compliance in daily inspections.

The position requires knowledge of inspection practices, adherence to safety policies, and the ability to prepare clear reports. Experience in field inspections and a valid GA driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

This position performs technical duties in the inspection of the city's ponds and outfalls.

• Conducts analytical and visual inspections of stormwater outfalls.
• Checks rain gauges and records measurements.
• Maintains daily logs of activities, readings and inspection results.
• Inspects city ponds annually and following major rain events.
• Inspects stormwater pump (e.g. Mary Street pond pump)
• Provides assistance to Stormwater crews as needed with inspections, cleaning, and other maintenance of the stormwater system.
• Performs related duties.

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
