Job summary

Sarasota County Government is seeking a Senior Stormwater Operations Leader to oversee a multi-district stormwater program in Sarasota County. You will manage a team of over 50 staff, develop goals, and supervise emergency response and special projects to protect public safety and infrastructure.

The role includes oversight of an $18 million annual budget, coordination with engineering teams, and ensuring compliance with environmental standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or job-related field and 6 years of related experience
• Master’s degree in construction, engineering, or job-related field and 4+ years of related experience
• Four+ years of supervisory/management experience

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to stormwater operations.
• Plan, direct, and continuously improve the County's stormwater operations and maintenance programs.
• Develop and direct maintenance strategy based on level of service criteria.
• Utilize asset condition data and risk-based prioritization for maintenance and capital replacement.
• Interface with stormwater engineering for quality initiatives and piping review.
