Job summary

City of Cape Girardeau seeks a stormwater equipment operator to run heavy and light machinery to maintain the river flood protection system and stormwater network. The role includes operating loaders, excavators, and dump trucks, with duties spanning ditch maintenance, sewer repairs, weed control, and snow removal.

The position requires a high school diploma and a valid Missouri CDL Class B with air brake endorsement.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or equivalent.
• Missouri CDL Class B with air brake endorsement required.
• Drug test and background check prior to final appointment.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy and light equipment (loaders, tractors, mowers, excavators, backhoes, etc.).
• Maintain ditches and repair storm sewers; load materials onto dump trucks.
• Assist in seasonal snow and ice removal and prepare job sites for excavation.
• Mow city areas, assist with weed abatement and mosquito fogging.
• Respond to emergencies and support Floodwall Pump Stations/Levee system operations.
