The Stormwater Manager oversees the planning, development, implementation, and enforcement of the City of Mcdonough's stormwater management program. This position ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations including the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requirements. The Stormwater Manager provides technical and administrative leadership, coordinates capital and maintenance projects, and supervises personnel involved in stormwater operations and public education.
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in stormwater management, public works, or environmental compliance. At least two (2) years of supervisory or project management experience. Possession of or ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Stormwater Manager (CSM) credential preferred. Valid driver’s licence with satisfactory driving record. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and GIS software.
Physical Ability : This position’s physical requirements involve very heavy work which requires occasionally exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.This work is typically performed with the employee sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, carrying, pulling, balancing, kneeling or stooping and may require physical exertion over moderately long periods of time. The employee may lift light to moderate heavy objects and use equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. The employee must be able to maneuver in confined spaces.
Sensory Requirements : Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors : Essential functions are regularly performed primarily in an outdoor environment where the employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals, and possible sustained periods in hot, cold, or inclement weather. The work may require the use of protective devices such as gloves and safety jackets.
