Job summary

The City of Peachtree City is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support the stormwater drainage system, performing inspection, cleaning, and minor repairs to protect water flow and infrastructure. This role provides on-the-job training under supervision and requires physical outdoor work.

Responsibilities include clearing debris, assisting with erosion control, masonry work, and locating utilities, with after-hours emergencies as needed. Safety rules and proper equipment use are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of stormwater systems, drainage principles, or maintenance practices.
• Ability to learn proper operation of tools and equipment used in stormwater maintenance.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a work crew.

Responsibilities

• Assists with inspection, cleaning, installation, and maintenance of storm drains, catch basins, culverts, ditches, swales, and ponds.
• Removes debris, sediment, vegetation, and obstructions from stormwater structures with hand tools and light equipment.
• Assists with minor repairs to stormwater infrastructure including pipes, grates, inlets, headwalls, and outfalls.
• Assists with erosion control and restoration activities such as grading, sodding, seeding, and installation of erosion control measures.
• Assists in masonry work, such as building headwalls, retaining walls, and catch basins. Prepares forms; pours and finishes concrete for curbs and basins.
• Operates hand tools, power tools, and light equipment safely.
• Responds to service requests and assists with emergency stormwater issues during and after storms.
• Loads, unloads, and transports tools, equipment, and materials to and from work sites.
• Performs routine maintenance on tools and equipment and reports repair needs to supervisor.
• Assists in traffic control at work sites.
• Locates underground utilities.
• Follows all safety rules, policies, and procedures including traffic control and confined space awareness.
• Responds to after-hours and weather-related emergencies during EOC activation.
• Must attend specialized training, including safety training, as required by management.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
