Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers is seeking a Rodman to support land surveying projects as part of a survey crew. You will assist the Party Chief, carry equipment, and help prepare field tasks in outdoor environments.

The role requires basic surveying knowledge, strong communication, and the ability to work in various weather conditions while maintaining safety and accuracy on every measurement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to grasp basic surveying concepts and techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow directions from supervisors and work with engineering staff.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather and terrains.
• Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs regularly.
• Demonstrated dependability and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Clear brush and obstacles to maintain line of sight.
• Carry and set up equipment such as rods, tripods, and prisms for staking and measurement.
• Load and unload survey equipment and supplies for job assignments.
• Maintain survey supplies, such as nails, paint, rods, and flags, ensuring the crew is prepared for daily tasks.
• Gather supplies, dig for corners, and cut lines.
• Search for and correctly identify monuments.
• Plumb prisms to ensure accurate measurements.
• Measure distances using chains, tape, or other methods.
• Clean and maintain survey equipment.
• Complete other tasks related to field surveying as assigned.
