Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking an Equipment Operator for the Transportation and Public Works/Stormwater Operations Division. The role involves cleaning storm drains, operating equipment, and performing manual maintenance tasks in all weather conditions.

A valid Class A CDL and Tank Endorsement within six months are required, with potential on-call duties for emergencies. Compensation includes a pay range of $22.17–$24.67 per hour, with a $2,000 sign-on incentive and full benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment or construction experience.
• Class A Driver’s License and ability to obtain Tank Endorsement within 6 months; operation of a vactor as required.

Responsibilities

• Pulls and hooks up high-pressure hoses when cleaning storm drains and pipes; positions truck, feeds and retrieves high-pressure lines.
• Operates various hand tools.
• Identifies and cleans storm lines, manholes, and inlets as necessary.
• Works in all weather conditions; must be able to crawl into pipes/inlets up to 18 inches in diameter; willing to get dirty.
• Performs equipment operations and related manual labor for maintenance operations.
