Job summary

The City of San Diego is seeking an Engineering Intern to support the Associate Engineer – Civil on stormwater projects. You will gain hands-on experience in stormwater systems, pump station design research, GIS mapping, and air quality compliance documentation.

Responsibilities include assisting with project tasks, organizing as-built drawings, creating GIS maps, and preparing data for hydraulic analyses. Applicants must be enrolled in civil engineering or a related program and be US citizens

Qualifications

• Pursuing civil engineering or closely related discipline at any education level.
• Must be enrolled in a continuing or traditional education program.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff with project-based engineering tasks as assigned.
• Research, review, and organize Stormwater as-built drawings.
• Create GIS-based maps, graphics, and exhibits.
• Support efforts to standardize stormwater pump station design.
• Organize data for hydraulic and hydrologic analyses related to storm drain capacity.
• Assist with air quality permitting documentation and emissions tracking for pump station generators.
