Job summary

City of Houston seeks an Engineer-in-Training for stormwater plan review in the Engineering and Construction division. Reporting location is 1002 Washington Ave. Primary duties include reviewing stormwater plans and permits to ensure compliance with city ordinances and the IDM, and working with customers on plans and questions.

Requires engineering degree and valid EIT certificate. No prior experience is required. Preference for eligible veterans.

Qualifications

Requires graduation from an approved engineering curriculum and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate.
No prior experience is required.
Preference given to eligible veteran applicants.
This is a Safety-sensitive position under the Houston Public Works Emergency Management program.

Responsibilities

Review stormwater plans and permits to ensure compliance with city ordinances and IDM.
Coordinate with customers on plans and documents and respond to questions.
Conduct meetings with customers as requested.
Understand storm and drainage design requirements per IDM, codes, and Atlas 14.
Review assigned Capital projects for compliance and quality.
Coordinate with Stormwater quality plan review to ensure IDM compliance.
Investigate inquiries from City departments, regulatory agencies, consultants, and the public.
Assist other drainage and stormwater infrastructure work as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
