Job summary

Forsyth County is seeking a qualified supervisor to oversee storm water management, soil erosion control, and sedimentation inspection on construction projects to ensure compliance with county codes and approved plans. You will lead staff, coordinate with engineers, contractors and other departments, review plans, issue stop work orders when needed, and prepare reports and budgets.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED with associate/technical degree preferred in civil engineering or utility construction.
• Three years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering, utility construction, site plan interpretation, and supervision.
• Must possess/obtain Water Distribution System Operator certification within one year and related certification within two years.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff and completes performance appraisals.
• Coordinates daily work activities, prioritizes tasks, and inspects progress of projects.
• Interprets and ensures compliance with approved plans, codes, and standards; resolves deviations.
• Reviews plans and construction documents for county compliance and approves when appropriate.
• Maintains project documentation and prepares reports and budgets.
• Responds to inquiries, provides guidance, and coordinates with engineers, contractors, and other departments.
