Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Civil Engineer specializing in Stormwater Management to lead design and implementation of stormwater infrastructure in Randburg, Gauteng. The role focuses on flood mitigation, SuDS, and water quality within municipal and private projects.

The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering degree with hydrology specialization, 6+ years of stormwater experience, and proficiency in HEC-RAS/SWMM/MIKE FLOOD. Pr. Eng. preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with hydrology or water resources specialization.
• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in stormwater design and hydraulic modeling.
• Proficient in hydrological and hydraulic modeling software.
• Knowledge of South African stormwater policies, guidelines and design manuals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing.

Responsibilities

• Design stormwater management plans and open channels, detention/retention basins and SuDS features.
• Perform hydrological and hydraulic analyses using industry-standard software.
• Conduct flood risk assessments and mitigation strategies for urban catchments.
• Prepare detailed designs, calculations, drawings and specs for stormwater infrastructure.
• Collaborate with planners, scientists, and engineers to integrate stormwater in development projects.
• Ensure compliance with national standards, local authority requirements, and environmental best practices.
• Liaise with clients, regulators and construction teams throughout projects.
