As a Stormwater and Utility Engineer III
You will lead the design and development of stormwater management and utility projects. Working closely with your project team, you will direct the design of effective and sustainable systems that mitigate flooding, manage stormwater runoff for large‑scale roadway and transportation projects, and enhance the efficiency of utility networks. This role allows an experienced engineer to apply technical knowledge and make a significant impact on the resilience of public infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• Complete assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
• Assist in the development of project specifications.
• Develop discipline‑specific engineering project elements and deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans.
• Aid in the coordination and productivity of project team members.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineering team members.
• Work closely with other disciplines on multi‑discipline projects.
• Perform quality control reviews of discipline‑specific engineering project elements.
• Assist with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within the discipline.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience.
• Master’s degree in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience.
• PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience.

What You'll Bring

• Practical experience with stormwater design standards, including the Rational Method and the TR-55 design manual.
• Experience with utility design standards and practice, including water supply and wastewater.
• Permitting experience, as support or lead, with local, state, and federal authorities related to stormwater and flood management.
• Optimizing work processes and focusing on continuous improvement.
• Independent progress of the majority of designs and tasks required of the discipline.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Understanding of engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles relevant to the application.
• Time‑management skills, proactive forecasting, and communication of project development needs.

What We Prefer

• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification (depending on discipline).

Additional Information

Location: Boston, MA or Chelmsford, MA (Lexington). Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
