Position Overview
The Novelis Bay Minette, AL team is seeking a Stores Leader. The Stores Leader has the responsibility for daily operations of the Bay Minette Storeroom. This role ensures the supply of materials from point of purchase to the deployment or use of the material by maintaining accurate inventories in serviceable condition. The chosen candidate will be responsible for maintaining inventory to ensure service levels as well as avoiding over stocks. Additionally, this role is responsible for implementing and sustaining MRO material management processes.
Responsibilities:

- Capture and monitor key materials management performance metrics, and communicate trends and forecast events depicted from critical metrics
- Analyze and forecast storeroom critical metrics, develop reports by manipulating raw data into streamlined and efficient reports for all levels of management
- Ensure material records data are valid and accurate
- Storeroom Access – Storeroom is operated as a closed storeroom with counter service provided to customers. After hour access is controlled with limited access and accountability.
- Perform cycle counting per schedule with accuracy reported by net adjustments for on hand quantity and dollar value.
- Issue Materials – Materials are issued at the time of removing from their bin location. Real time issuing of materials.
- Review of MRP requirements to ensure the accurate service levels are maintained and over stocks are avoided.
- Quality control for incoming materials to ensure accurate materials are received.
- Lead repairable materials process for external and internal repair materials.
- Responsible for accurate storage and coordination with reliability for preventive maintenance work orders.
- Manage obsolete material review and disposition process.
- Coordinate new store stock addition process to ensure new stock additions are a business decision by the appropriate plant personnel.
- Coordinate with reliability team to support equipment bill of materials
- ABC Analysis / Criticality – Maintain the ABC analysis rating on material records and use as a tool for material service levels, cycle counting, and reliability-based ranking of store stock items.
- Vendor Managed Inventory – Provide material planning input for use in inventory.
- Manage/coordinate lube storage needs (VMI, and housekeeping).
- Implement process for returning issued materials back to store stock inventory.
- Manage Return to Vendor process
- Lead and coordinate with procurement for after hour emergency purchasing.
- Emergency plant to plant material transfer coordination.
- Manage and coordinate offsite storage of stores items.
- Allocation of monies for all off-site MRO materials storage.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Business, Engineering, or Engineering Technology degree, or 10 years experience in stockroom management
- Prior experience working in a storeroom and managing staff in an industrial setting
- Strong computer skills with software applications proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint or similar web-based system
- SAP or similar MRP system
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail.
- Broad MRO inventory management experience at plant level
- Understanding the process for MRO materials as it supports equipment reliability
- Experience and involvement with World Class Management, and/or Continuous Improvement projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- Materials Requirement Planning system experience
Physical Requirements:
- Near constant standing with frequent walking and occasional sitting
- Occasional below waist level work, climbing, balancing, carrying, reaching over 15” away from the body, reaching above shoulder, fine motor skills, use of forceful motion, push/pull, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Ability to meet the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Able and willing to work at heights

Location Profile
Novelis' newly announced Bay Minette facility will be located 35 miles northeast of Mobile AL and 45 miles west of Pensacola FL and is expected to create approximately 1000 high-paying advanced careers in modern manufacturing. This highly advanced rolling and recycling facility will be the first of its kind. It will primarily serve our customers in the beverage can and automotive markets.
