About the Plainfield Correctional Facility:

Plainfield Correctional Facility is a medium-security correctional facility housing adult male members located southwest of Plainfield, Indiana in Hendricks County. The average daily population in this facility is 1,650.

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $29,588.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

About the Job:

As the Stores Clerk, you will perform various tasks in the supervision and overall operation of stocking, disbursing, and controlling goods and supplies in our Maintenance department.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

• Authorize the accuracy of all orders received in the storeroom and authorize all goods received.
• Contact vendors regarding partial shipments and/or misorders.
• Maintain detailed inventory records and records of items ordered.
• Evaluate and recognize record-keeping or storage procedures as necessary.
• Ensure proper storage procedures and rotation of stock for perishable items.
• Make recommendations on purchase of new equipment for warehouse and maintenance required in building.
• Oversee and assemble equipment received in “knocked down” condition.
• Ensure the security of inmate staff assigned to the warehouse.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

• Thorough knowledge of requisitioning and disbursing procedures, consumption rates of stored items and inventory control procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of stock items, their locations and the proper methods of storing a variety of goods and supplies based upon efficient space utilization and a variety of state and federal regulations.
• Practical knowledge of state regulations in handling and storing foodstuffs and perishables.
• Ability to train inmates and staff in proper operation of all equipment and proper methods of storage.
• Ability to maintain detailed, accurate inventory and purchasing records.
• Ability to operate forklift, hand-truck and other mechanical equipment in warehouse.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
