Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking an entry-level Stores Attendant B to assist the Material Services organization with material accountability and storeroom operations. You will work under supervision, progressing from assisting duties to independent tasks as knowledge grows.

Responsibilities include issuing material, inspecting received items, maintaining stock, packing shipments, and operating material handling equipment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year in inventory control, warehousing, or related fields.
  • Basic math skills and ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds and pass the PAT.
  • Valid state driver license; CDL if required within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Issue material with proper authorization and file related records.
  • Check received material for quantity and condition; process receipts.
  • Identify, sort, and record material returns; move usable items to stock.
  • Operate terminals and printers for materials management systems.
  • Prepare and pack material for shipment or storage and handle hazardous materials when needed.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and hoists.
  • Assist in maintaining efficient storage and reorganize bins/racks.
  • Support inventory cycle counts and discrepancy adjustments with approvals.
  • Collaborate with team members and follow safety rules.
