Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Stores Attendant B for locations without other Stores Department employees. This entry-level position supports material accountability, stores operations, storerooms, and storage yards in the assigned area, under supervision and a learning process.

Duties include issuing material, inspecting received items, maintaining stock, operating a material management system, packing shipments, and safely handling hazardous materials.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year in inventory control, material handling, warehousing, or related work; basic computer skills needed.
• Experience with inventory management software such as Maximo; Excel/Word preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds and pass the PAT.
• Driver's license; CDL may be required in some cases.

Responsibilities

• Issue material under proper authorization and maintain related records.
• Check received material for quantity and condition; process receipts.
• Operate material management system terminals and office equipment.
• Prepare and pack material for shipment or storage.
• Maintain and process stores records and inventory levels.
• Operate material handling equipment and company vehicles.
• Report irregularities and maintain safe storage conditions.
• Assist supervisor with storage optimization and location changes.
• Perform duties in accordance with safety rules and practices.
