Job summary

University of California, Berkeley is seeking a Storeroom Clerk in the MCB Department to support purchasing, receiving, inventory, and customer service for two stockrooms. The role involves data entry, payments, and daily coordination with vendors and lab staff.

The position is part-time (32 hours/week), non-exempt, and eligible for UC benefits. A valid California driver's license and ability to lift up to 75 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• Data entry accuracy and detailed record-keeping.
• Excellent customer service skills in high-demand situations.
• Ability to interface with students, staff, faculty, drivers and vendors.
• Ability to lift and move items up to 75 lbs.
• Proficient in Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Purchasing: run POSIM/BFS reports, build purchase orders, verify pricing, follow up on orders.
• Inventory maintenance: receive orders, barcode and shelve items, conduct weekly cycle counts.
• Approve payments: investigate discrepancies, track transactions, provide backups.
• Data analysis: run POSIM reports, research inventory inconsistencies, adjust database.
• Enter sales: input customer sales into POSIM.
• Customer service: assist customers with questions, prepare routine correspondence.
• Receiving and delivery: back up for Storekeeper, sign for shipments, deliver to labs, maintain logs.
• General housekeeping: keep stockroom tidy, defrost freezers.
