Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a capable Cashier/Stocker with lead-capacity duties when Store Manager is absent. You will manage plan-o-grams, stock shelves, assist customers, and ensure a safe, clean store while protecting assets.

Your role emphasizes exemplary customer service and teamwork. Responsibilities include unloading deliveries, stocking merchandise, operating the register, handling cash, and maintaining store presentation.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram guidance and merchandise presentation.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Experience with IBM cash register functions and cashier systems.
• High school diploma or equivalent with supervisory exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks according to store procedures.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons and totes following processes.
• Stock merchandise, rotate and face shelves, and build displays.
• Restock returned and recovered merchandise.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Greet customers and assist in locating merchandise.
• Operate cash register and scanner; total purchases and bag items.
• Collect payment and make change; maintain register area.
• Maintain clean front end, sidewalk displays, and stockroom.
• Support cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Open/close store under area manager direction; authorize refunds as needed.
• Monitor cash levels, issue drawer pulls, and observe surveillance as applicable.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
