Job summary

Dollar Tree in Alexandria, LA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, assist customers, and develop team members at our location. This role supports opening/closing procedures, merchandising, payroll and scheduling, and loss prevention while ensuring a safe, friendly shopping environment for customers and associates.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and leadership skills, be able to lift up to 55 lbs, and thrive in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives related to store activities
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for store-front effectiveness
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits) and loss prevention
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure associates follow procedures
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff
• Maintain store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, trash, and neat presentation
• Other duties as assigned
