As a Security Coordinator at a Wegmans store location, you will be responsible for providing a safe and secure store environment for customers and employees. Coordinators serve as the liaison between the Wegmans Asset Protection team, company leaders, and store employees. This role requires a self-motivated, independent individual who is task-oriented, highly visible, and committed to excellent customer service.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring safety of people in our stores and executing safety programs to create a positive shopping and working environment
- Partnering with management to implement asset protection strategies to maximize sales and reduce theft-related shrinkage; analyzing industry trends and data
- Building collaborative relationships with community organizations and emergency responders to enhance safety and security awareness
- Discreetly observing customers, vendors, and employees to prevent loss; utilizing resources to apprehend and process shoplifters
- Managing all security systems, including Closed-Circuit Television and life safety systems
- Handling emergencies such as medical incidents and fire alarms with problem-solving and conflict management skills
- Responding to emergencies and making decisions affecting safety and wellbeing
- Conducting investigations and surveillances under supervision
- Providing ongoing support and guidance during emergency situations
Minimum qualifications:
- Police Officer/Deputy/Trooper experience working road patrol and/or U.S. Military Law Enforcement or Special Operations experience
- Proven problem-solving and conflict management skills
- Good judgment and decision-making abilities to ensure safety
- Effective communication and composure under stress
- Technical aptitude with proficiency in MS Office
- Valid driver's license
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field
- Military, security, loss prevention, or asset protection experience
- Emergency Medical Services or First Responder experience
- Retail management or leadership experience
