Job summary

Academy Sports + Outdoors is seeking a Sales Manager to lead a busy retail store, guiding daily performance across Hardlines and Softlines while ensuring excellent service and execution. You will coach a diverse team, drive sales, and manage inventory with strong attention to safety and policy compliance.

You will work closely with the Store Director and department leaders to align priorities, problem-solve in real time, and deliver a best-in-class store experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of leadership or management experience.
• Experience leading departments of up to 40 team members while driving operational excellence and achieving sales targets.
• Strong customer service mindset with effective communication and problem-solving skills.
• Business acumen with understanding of sales performance, labor planning, and profitability.
• Ability to interpret reports and use metrics to inform decisions and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day performance of a high-volume retail store, translating goals into clear priorities for sales, merchandising, and operations.
• Coach, develop, and inspire a diverse team of leaders and teammates through training, feedback, and accountability.
• Plan using sales metrics, labor plans, and inventory insights to improve productivity and profitability while maintaining in-stock and visual standards.
• Balance people leadership with hands-on execution, ensuring policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements are upheld.
• Collaborate with the Store Director and department leaders to set expectations and problem-solve in real time.
• Partner with corporate and field teams to align store initiatives with brand standards and strategy.
