Job summary

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Overland Park, KS is seeking a Store Sales Associate I to deliver friendly customer service, assist with donations, and ensure a well-organized shopping environment.

You’ll handle POS transactions, balance cash drawers, and work with the team to meet store goals, with flexible scheduling including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or currently pursuing one.
• Retail, customer service, or cashiering experience preferred.
• Basic computer and cash-handling skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally team lift up to 100 lbs.
• Ability to stand for extended periods in a store environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and represent The Salvation Army’s mission and values.
• Greet donors and shoppers warmly and assist with transactions at the register.
• Operate the POS system and handle all cash transactions accurately.
• Open, close, and balance cash drawers per TSA cash handling policies.
• Maintain a clean and organized store by restocking, straightening racks, and cleaning work areas.
• Ensure merchandise is displayed properly and replenished regularly.
• Follow all policies regarding the sale of donated goods.
• Work collaboratively with team members and store management.
• Support store productivity benchmarks and contribute to sales goals.
• Be available for flexible scheduling, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
