Job summary

Family Dollar in Detroit, MI is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help with store operations, customer service and team development. You will assist with daily store activities, help customers, and ensure merchandise is well-stocked and displays are maintained.

You will also support opening/closing procedures, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with company policies and safety guidelines while providing a positive experience for customers and colleagues.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or similar environment preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required
• Team-oriented and customer-focused approach required

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day store activities and functions
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Move merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for storefronts
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store and organized stockroom
• Protect and secure store assets including cash
• Adhere to policies, safety guidelines, and procedures
• Assist Store Manager in supervising and developing Store Associates
• Maintain a positive, safe, respectful environment for customers and staff
• Ensure store areas are clean and presentable, including bathrooms
• Other duties as assigned
