Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development in Pearl, MS. You will help with daily activities, assist customers, and ensure merchandise is well-organized and properly displayed.

The role requires strong communication and leadership to train Store Associates, maintain safety standards, and uphold company policies across a busy retail environment.

Qualifications

• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environments is preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to shoulder height.
• Reading and interpreting operational directives is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Follow corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional front-end fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll and scheduling duties, and loss prevention.
• Keep a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all store assets, including cash and equipment.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure staff follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Keep the store clean, restock bathrooms, sweep and mop floors, take out trash.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
