Job summary

Family Dollar in Red Oak, IA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help oversee daily operations, customer service, and team development.

You will support the Store Manager, supervise associates, manage inventory and merchandising, and uphold store safety and policies. This role requires strong communication and a hands-on leadership approach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; ability to read and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent movement
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged items, and cash handling
• Maintain store areas, stockroom, and seasonal displays
• Perform opening and closing procedures
• Supervise, train, and develop store associates
• Protect assets including store cash and adhere to policies
• Ensure clean, safe, and presentable store environment
• Contribute to loss prevention efforts
• Other duties as assigned
