Job summary

Family Dollar in Columbia, SC seeks an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service and team development. The role includes assisting with daily functions, merchandising, and implementing corporate directives to ensure efficient store performance.

The position emphasizes maintaining a well-stocked floor, safeguarding assets, and leading store associates under the Store Manager. A high school diploma and prior retail management experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties including walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling and repetitive lifting
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment
• Exceptional customer service, organizational and communication skills are required
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Assist in organizing and transferring merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping and loss prevention
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure all company assets including store cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure staff follow procedures
• Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff
• Maintain cleanliness of the store including bathrooms, floors, trash, and overall neatness
• Other duties as assigned
