Job summary

Varley, a contemporary fashion brand for the modern woman, is seeking a Store Operations Assistant in California to support stockroom and shop floor teams. You will ensure efficient product flow, accurate inventory handling, and a well-organised back-of-house environment.

Working with the Store Operations Lead, you will handle deliveries, replenishment, cycle counts, and seasonal stockroom layouts while maintaining safety and high standards in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• Previous retail, stockroom, or warehouse experience preferred but not essential.
• Comfortable with manual handling and fast-paced environments.
• Basic experience with POS or inventory systems is beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail and organisation.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and consistently.
• Good time management and reliability.
• Strong team player with clear communication skills.
• Adaptable and quick to learn.
• Physically capable of stockroom tasks.
• Fully flexible, including weekends, peak seasons, and changing business demands.

Responsibilities

• Stockroom Support & Organisation: Receive, unpack, and process daily deliveries; keep stockroom clean and organised; label and store products correctly; follow systems and procedures; assist with seasonal reorganisation.
• Replenishment & Shop Floor Support: Replenish floor according to priorities; respond to stock requests; maintain core ranges and best sellers; flag shortages or high-demand items.
• Inventory Support & Accuracy: Support cycle counts and stock checks; assist with stock takes; report discrepancies and damaged stock; follow inventory processes.
• Seasonal Preparation & Space Support: Assist seasonal stockroom layouts; reorganise stock by category or collection; highlight space constraints; support adjustments during peak trading.
• Damaged Stock Processing: Identify and report damaged items; label and isolate; prepare stock for returns or write-offs; maintain damaged stock areas.
• Store Supplies Support: Monitor supplies and report replenishment needs; assist with unpacking and organising deliveries.
• Operational Standards & Compliance: Follow health and safety procedures; maintain BOH cleanliness; report hazards or issues promptly.
