Job summary

Dollar Tree in West Hartford, CT is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service and team development. This part-time role involves assisting with daily store activities, merchandising, payroll, scheduling and loss prevention, while ensuring a clean, safe and welcoming environment.

The position requires the ability to lift up to 55 lbs and work in a fast-paced retail setting, with emphasis on communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; able to read, interpret and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks including walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing and pulling.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and receipts), and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure staff follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers, associates and leaders.
• Maintain cleanliness of the store, restrooms, floors, trash removal and overall neatness.
• Other duties as assigned.
